The Permian–Triassic extinction, just 252 million years ago, commonly known as the "Great Dying” resulted in the almost immediate extinction of 81% of all marine species and over 70% of terrestrial vertebrate species. What happened - was it an astroid? Will simply detecting and redirecting these objects way from our planet be enough? It might help, but we do not believe that is nearly enough. We believe many major extinction events were much simpler - global “red tides” with oceans so choked with life and then death that life on our planet nearly collapsed. The crazy part? We are accelerating towards this horizon.
